Christmas Greetings Plugin Widget for WordPress

Getting up and running with this plugin is quick and easy:

1. Unzip the plugin file christmas-greetings.zip into your plugins directory.
2. Activate the plugin.
3. Once the plugin has been activated all you need to do to use the widget is to drag and drop it to where you want to use it in your theme.
4. Then set the title (it defaults to "Christmas Greetings") and review the options on the admin page.

If you'd like the computer to randomly serve up a quote from the available list then select random from the list in setting 1. Otherwise, select the specific quote that you'd like displayed.

If you want the text in the quote displayed in the widget to be in bold select yes in setting 2. And make setting 3 equal to yes if you want the citation displayed in italics.

If you don't want citations to displayed for all quotes, set setting 4 to no.

Use setting 5 to decide whether or not you want to display a countdown timer showing the days left until Christmas Day.

All other settings for the text will be supplied by the theme you are using.

The widget displays the number of days left until Christmas. It's displayed by default but if you don't want to know - maybe you haven't started your shopping yet - just change setting 5 under General Settings to no.

We have also provided a shortcode version which you can use in the main body of your posts and pages. Just insert [obr_greeting] and you're done. It's as easy as that!

If you want this version to not appear as a "blockquote" then use [obr_greeting blockquote=0] as the default is blockquote=1.

Please note that the general settings will be picked as for the widget, so if you are not displaying citations on the widget, then you won't be with the shortcode either.

May be you don't just want to display your seasonal greetings on your site, but you want to send them to your users too by email?

Just follow the simple instructions on the Email section of the Admin area of the site. You'll see a list of users - you can select one or all of them. You can send as any administrator.

Quote setting come from the site generally, i,e, if you have a specific quote selected, that is what will be sent to your users.

Don't forget that you can add a little personalisation to your message too!
