CS-Cart Google Structured Data

This addon will make your cs-cart v2.x utilize the power of microdata. Microdata is a WHATWG HTML specification used to nest semantics within existing content on web pages. Search engines, web crawlers, and browsers can extract and process Microdata from a web page and use it to provide a richer browsing experience for users. Search engines benefit greatly from direct access to this structured data because it allows search engines to understand the information on web pages and provide more relevant results to users.

In short, microdata helps Google and other search engines to display rich snippets for your products. This means better seo for your products on CS-Cart 2 installations and better product exposure on search engine results.

This addon is not meant to display anything to the user. Every bit of information is there though. If you install it and look at your page's source code, you will see what this addon does.

The demo is a preview on how a microdata aware site looks like in Google search results

1. Upload #Microdata folder contents in the root directory of your CS-Cart
2. Go to Admin panel - Administration - Add-ons
3. Click Install on the Microdata addon
4. After installation, click on Edit or directly on the name of the Microdata add-on and fill in the meta tags needed for Google,Bing and Yandex webmaster tools
5. Enjoy

Do i have to edit any templates?

No. For the default template (that is "basic") you don't have to do anything. If you are using another template, then you have to go on: 1. ADDON_FOLDER/skins/ and rename the "basic" dir to your template's name

Should i replace the skins/basic/customer/common_templates/breadcrumbs.tpl template?

If you really need to show breadcrumb snippets on Google and other search engines then yes, you should.

I already have webmaster tool meta tags placed. Do i need to fill in the info?

You can skip this part if you already have the meta tags placed. You can just fill in only the missing ones.
