Getting Started with the Code
- To get started with the App Template code itself, please make sure you have XCode 4.3 or better installed (earlier versions may work but are not recommended)
- Open the ABusinessTemplate.xcodeproj file located in the „Assets/Source/A-Business-Template-1.X.X“ by double clicking it
- This starts XCode and opens the project
- The project is configured to work out of the box. You can start the App in the Simulator by selecting the menu item „Product/Run“ or using the Command-R keyboard command
- Make sure you have a Simulator installed for iOS 5.0 and higher
To get started with the PSD containing the design and layout for the App Template
- If you want to edit the PSD, please install the Open Sans fonts first. They are located in the „Graphic Source Files/Fonts“ folder
- Open the PSD file contained in „Graphic Source Files“ with Photoshop by doubleclicking it
- Every App Template View has its own layer group in the PSD. You show and hide different sections of the App by hiding or showing the specific layer group
Some of the relevant layers or layer groups are named to reflect the image name being used in the App
- Optionally you can use the Slicy tool to automatically recreate the images being used by the App (both standard and retina resolution)
- Also checkout the App Icons folder in Assets/Source. It contains two sample App Icons in various sizes and formats
- The Slices folder contains all images extracted from the PSD. This is also a simple way to pick a certain image and modify it without having to use the PSD. But keep in mind this folder isn‘t being used by the App Template. If you modify something, you have to drag and drop it into the XCode Project
- MacOSX 10.7 or higher (it will not work on Windows or Linux / iOS Development is OSX only)
- XCode 4.3 or higher (can be downloaded for free from the Mac App Store) and Mobile Device Framework
- XCode Command line tools (see "Components tab of the Downloads preferences panel in XCode")
- iOS SDK 5.0 and higher (the app won't work on older versions of iOS)
- Photoshop CS3 or higher if you want to edit the PSD (optional, not necessary for running the code)
- Slicy App for Mac (optional)
