Only one line of code like
echo NeoYoutubePlugin::embed( ``"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cmffLlkwxc" );
and the embedded code is automatically generated inside your webpage.
Neo YouTube Plugin is a PHP code that helps you not only easily embed a YouTube video into your website but also collect some very important information of the video. Just a single line of a code will make all that info available for further use in your own PHP application. In overall, the plugin is nice and I am using it in my website about how to get more Youtube Views via http://youtubebuzz.com with all my pleasure.
Here is how I am using it: when a customer enters his video URL into the order form to buy Youtube views, I display his video embed along with all the data about it collected by the Neo YouTube Plugin on the confirmation page. This helps customers be sure that the order is taken for a correct video and also shows some current stats of the video like title, category, time, number of likes, dislikes, comments the video has.
Pros
Easy to implement. Yes, the implementation can't be easier. Just include the library in your PHP code and embed a video with a single line of code. If you need to collect some data of the video, just put down another line of code and you are done!
Full control of an embedded video size. Just include a video size you need and get it. No hidden tricks here.
Affordable price. The plugin is sold for just $4.99 - it's an affordable price for any developer who prefers to use ready-made code libraries to save his valuable time.
Cons
Short links are not accepted. I'd prefer to be able to use not only default YouTube links like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkssdKrHlEs but also the short ones like http://youtu.be/nq2yW6S_BH0.
No info about views number, a channel and channel subscribers number collected. Unfortunately, information about so important video parameters like the number of views a video received and the number of subscribers to a chanel the video belongs to is not collected by the plugin. I'd consider this the most wanted option that should be included in the "road map" by the plugin developer Dan Lutescu ( Thank you Dan for the well written code, by the way!).
Thinking about the further plugin development ideas, I found that I personally would be pleased to have something like this Neo YouTube Plugin to easily embed a YouTube channel playlist into my website along with all the info collected about that channel including not only the channel URL/name and number of channel subscribers I mentioned above but also all the rest data like channel's thumbnail image URL, channel's background image URL (if customized), the number of channel comments.
To summirize I have to say that the plugin is worth the money paid from the one side and still has ways to be further developed from the other one. I'd recommend it to use for those who just need to easily embed a YouTube video into their websites and do not need the more detailed info about embedding videos.
