New features: component comments, account balance, deposit & more

At Binpress, we’re constantly thinking about ways to help our developers sell better and help our buyers get the best deal we can offer. We recently launched two new features that do exactly that and we’d like to introduce them:

Balance and deposits

Last week we introduced account balance and deposits. Account balance can be used to purchase components on Binpress, and can be charged up through component sales (if you have a seller account), affiliate commissions (every one can get those!) and deposits. Deposits allow you to get additional credits for the same price, increasing your purchase power and rewarding you for committing upfront.

Having an account balance also simplifies purchases as you can pay for it using your balance without having to go through a checkout procedure and use your credit card each time.

Component Comments

It is now possible to leave comments on component pages. Component authors are immediately notified when a comment is submitted, and users can be notified as well when a response is posted.

This should help buyers get more information about components before buying them, and give developers an opportunity to answer frequent pre-sale questions and get feedback from users who are considering buying their software. Developers can also learn about what other information might be missing in their descriptions that might be preventing buyers from making a purchase.

The component page itself was also slightly redesigned to better display some of the information that is available.

Revamped user dashboard

The user dashboard has been revamped to allow for easy navigation to common pages and to help orient users with features they might not be aware of. In addition, site changes such as new components and forum threads appear in the dashboard for a quick overview. The dashboard looks slightly different for those of you with a seller account to give them more relevant information.
