Cross-platform Side-scroller Game Starter Kit (Cocos2D-X)

Component Proposal Cross-platform Side-scroller Game Starter Kit (Cocos2D-X)
Suggested by Nathanael Weiss on Jun 1, 2012

A platformer/side-scroller game source code package

C/C++

I'm the author of Quexlor action-RPG and Puzzle Game Starter kits. The newest starter kit coming out is a cross-platform (iOS and Android) side-scroller/platformer written in C++ using Cocos2D-X.

You can help shape this starter kit by providing some feedback here. Anyone following or leaving feedback on that component suggestion will be entitled a 10% discount on the starter kit when it is published.

We're planning on releasing a iPhone & Android buildable project, with enough knowledge this could be ported to windows mobile as well. However if enough people request a windows mobile buildable project we'll release it.

Why Cocos2D-X

Cocos2D-X let you write cross-platform, portable games with the same API as Cocos2d iPhone. Write cocos2D games and let the same exact codebase deploy both on iPhone and Android devices!

Are You a Windows Developer?

This new game source code kit is great news for Windows developers as well. Yes, you can finally develop iPhone / iPad games on Windows and deploy them for iOS, Android, Windows and even Linux.

If you’re a Windows developer looking for an easy road to start learning how to make portable games, our upcoming game source code package ought to ease your transition quite nicely.

Help up shape this Starter Kit

  • Which operating system do you prefer to develop on?
  • What development environment are you most comfortable with?
  • Would you want to have a publishing guide for how to get your game/app onto the app stores?
  • How many levels and/or type of enemies would you like this Starter Kit to have?
  • Would you like multiplayer mode in this Starter Kit?
  • How much would you pay for this Starter Kit?
  • Would you pay more for a premium version of this Starter Kit? (Featuring more than one example, multiplayer mode etc..).
  • Do you have experience with Cocos2D-X?
